About the Webinar

Thailand’s sustainable finance landscape is evolving rapidly, as regulators, financial institutions and market participants seek to mobilise capital towards a credible and inclusive economic transition. Thailand Taxonomy Phase II is an important step, extending the national framework to further economic sectors and providing a common basis for identifying environmentally sustainable activities and credible transition pathways.

A credible transition, however, rests on more than climate objectives alone. It also depends on how the transition affects nature, and on how its costs and benefits are distributed across society, including the uneven risks and opportunities the shift creates for workers, local communities, women and other groups. Integrating Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) is therefore essential if transition finance is to support an inclusive transition rather than leave these groups behind.

To address these questions in sequence, the project has developed three knowledge products that build on one another:

• Strengthening Thailand’s Taxonomy Phase II: the classification framework that defines what counts as a credible transition activity;
• A Nature-Positive and Socially Inclusive Transition Bond Toolkit: translating that framework into practical, investable financial instruments; and
• Integrating GEDSI into Socially Inclusive Transition Finance: ensuring both the framework and the instruments deliver for people as well as for nature.

This webinar brings the three products together, shares their key findings and practical recommendations, and creates space for stakeholders to reflect on the barriers and opportunities that remain in scaling this finance in Thailand.

Part of ‘Financing a Nature-Positive and Socially Inclusive Climate Transition for Thailand’, a Thailand-UK PACT-supported project led by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) in collaboration with Sal Forest.
