We would like to invite you to provide feedback to us on the SPOTT Palm Oil indicator framework ahead of the 2023 assessments.

To ensure SPOTT continues to align with best practice reporting standards, we have made two significant changes this year:

  • Indicators relating to GHG emissions have been updated to include reporting on scope 1 and 2 emissions, and a new indicator (#104) has been added relating to scope 3 emissions.
  • Indicator #173 relating to third party supplier compliance has been amended to specify deforestation- and/or conversion-free (DCF) supply chains in-line with AFI, CDP, ForestIQ, GRI, and WWF frameworks.

Please note, this year we are trialling a new system where we will assess but not score new indicators for the first year.* This is applicable to indicators #104 and #173.

We have also edited or added some indicators either in response to previous feedback, or to align better with our indicator frameworks for Timber & Pulp and Natural Rubber.

Please download and review the indicator framework and fill in the ‘Reviewer comments’ column (column P) with any feedback. We welcome feedback on any/all indicators and have highlighted new indicators and indicators with a change to the scoring criteria in column H and our comments in column I.

Please return the attached Indicator Framework document with your feedback by Monday 22 May to imogen.fanning@zsl.org.

*This only applies to indicators that are completely new to SPOTT assessments and have not yet been scored under either the timber & pulp, or natural rubber assessments.
